theGrid is speedy. Really speedy. It is written in Rust, using the GPUI framework, so it doesn't need an entire web browser running just to keep up with messages.

theGrid is built on top of the decentralised [matrix] protocol. This means that it is compatible with any Matrix client - so whether your contacts use Element, Cinny, FluffyChat, or another Matrix Client, you'll be able to chat to them with theGrid.
Private. Secure.
theGrid supports end-to-end encryption, so your messages cannot be read by anyone except for you and your contacts. And if you want to achieve maximum sovereignty over your messages, you can run your own [matrix] server.
